THE MAIN POINTS IN THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BUDGET:
* The budget forecasts a modest $48 million surplus in 2018/19 growing to $105 million the following year and to $211 million by 2021/22.
* The SA economy is forecast to grow by 2.25 per cent each year over the next four years.
* Employment growth is expected to be 1.5 per cent in 2018/19 but fall to one per cent for each year of the forward estimates.
* The government is looking to save $863.9 million across all departments by 2021/22 and has taken the axe to more than 30 of the previous Labor government's programs and projects.
* It has quarantined health from some previous savings targets but has warned some services, including pathology and radiation, could be privatised if they don't meet future targets.
* The government will also move to privatise the Adelaide Remand Centre but will spend $169 million on 270 new beds at the Yatala prison and 40 at the Adelaide women's prison.
* $11.3 billion has been allocated to infrastructure projects over the next four years with funds going to road and rail projects, new schools, health services and residential housing.
* The government will hit some public housing residents with higher rents.
* Households will get cost of living relief thanks to lower emergency service levies while some property owners will get land tax breaks.
* Small businesses will benefit from payroll tax cuts worth $157 million over four years.
* The government will close eight TAFE campuses, including three in regional SA.
* It hopes to cut 2286 public sector jobs over the next four years but will also seek to have a further 1700 move into similar positions in the private sector.
* The government has blamed Labor for leaving the state's finances in a mess with the budget for 2017/18 ending with a $397 million deficit.
