Almost $120 million in insurance claims have been lodged over a deadly bushfire in South Australia's mid-north.

About two-thirds of that figure relates to commercial losses, the Insurance Council of Australia says.

More than 1340 claims have been lodged after the blaze ripped through 82,000 hectares, claiming two lives and destroying almost 500 buildings.
