SA confirms 11 cases of meningococcal

SA Health says 11 meningococcal cases have been confirmed so far this year, an unusually high number.

Eleven South Australians have developed meningococcal disease so far this year.

Health Minister Jack Snelling says the patients are aged between one and 94 years and that four of those cases have developed over the past two weeks.

SA Health chief medical officer Paddy Phillips says it compares with seven meningococcal cases this time last year and a total of 30 throughout 2015.
