Total fire bans have been declared across South Australia with the state's heatwave conditions to continue.

The Country Fire Service said on Saturday night a fire in the Gammon Ranges continued to burn in inaccessible terrain and was being closely monitored.

An earlier threat posed by a blaze at Georgetown had subsided, although smoke impacting on visibility and falling trees remained a concern.

Firefighters remain on high alert with bans declared in 11 districts on Sunday, most notably Northwest Pastoral and West Coast where conditions are expected to be extreme.

High to very high temperatures with moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds are forecast.

Adelaide is expecting a top of 41C.
