The South Australian government has conceded a report critical of the state's hospital system is in line with its own assessment.
The Australian Medical Association has revealed SA hospitals are failing to meet expectations across six key indicators including waiting times for emergency and elective surgery, elective surgery targets and spending.
The report also warns of a funding "black hole" unless the commonwealth reverses recent budget cuts - which will restrict funding growth from July next year.
Health Minister Jack Snelling says SA's hospital system struggles at times, despite the state government delivering more doctors, nurses and beds.
"The cruel cuts to the public health system by the federal government only make this even more challenging," SA Health Minister Jack Snelling told AAP on Thursday.

"But Labor is doing something about it and delivering the biggest reform our state's health system has ever seen."
The Liberal opposition blamed the state government rather than the commonwealth, saying states with the same amount of funding faired much better than SA.
