SA govt declines comment on Hillier deaths

South Australia's attorney-general has declined to comment on what contact social workers had with a family found murdered near Adelaide.

South Australia's attorney-general has rejected calls from the opposition to outline the contact social workers had with a family found murdered near Adelaide.

Families SA have confirmed they had been in "active contact" with Adeline Rigney-Wilson and her children Corey, 5, and Amber, 6, who were found dead in a house at Hillier, north of the city, last week.

Adeline's partner, Steven Graham Peet, has been charged with three counts of murder and will appear next in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in August.

The opposition has called on the government to reveal Families SA's involvement with the family, including whether child protection notifications were made or drug tests conducted.

But Attorney-General John Rau on Tuesday said the government would not comment on the case while it was still the subject of police investigation.

"It is not appropriate that these matters be aired at this point in time," he told parliament.

Adeline's mother has said her daughter had family-related issues which had resulted in a third child, a son, living with his father.

Donna Rigney also revealed her daughter had problems with drugs after getting "mixed up with the wrong crowd".

Families SA has been the subject of more than half a dozen major inquiries since 2002 which have revealed significant failings of vulnerable children.
