The South Australian government faces a huge spike in its electricity bill this year, Treasurer Rob Lucas says.

Mr Lucas has blamed the previous Labor administration for the price hike across all government departments, saying it struck a "rushed and incompetent" deal.

"Initial analysis suggests electricity costs across government could jump by as much as $45 million to $106 million in 2018, a staggering 73 per cent rise," Mr Lucas said on Thursday.
