The South Australian Labor government will provide an extra $5.5 million to help reduce the number of people taking their own lives if returned at the March state election.
The funding will go to a range of initiatives including prevention networks, research and programs to help people grieving, Health Minister Peter Malinauskas said on Tuesday.
"Every suicide is a tragedy and that is why Labor is supporting individuals, families and the community to bring down the rate of suicide and save lives," he added.
The funding will also go towards a registry to provide statistical information on intentional self-harm in the state.
"A re-elected Labor government will work with experts, the community and non-government organisations to provide support to people at risk of suicide," Mr Malinauskas said.
