SA Labor to cut fees on electric cars

The South Australian Labor Party has promised to cut fees on electric cars if returned at the March election.

A re-elected South Australian Labor government will scrap stamp duty on electric cars and waive registrations fees for five years to encourage more people to buy the environmentally-friendly vehicles.

Environment Minister Ian Hunter says the plan will save anyone who buys a $40,000 electric car $2155.

"Driving an electric vehicle is a good environmental choice, and with Labor's new incentives, it also makes good financial sense," Mr Hunter said on Friday.
