SA man charged over school bomb threats

An Adelaide man has been charged after a school reported online threats and police discovered a homemade bomb.

An Adelaide man has been charged with manufacturing explosives and with sparking a bomb hoax after making online threats to a local school.

The 67-year-old was arrested at a North Haven property on Thursday, where officers found what appeared to be a homemade bomb and other items of interest.

The man has been charged with manufacturing explosives and possessing explosive substances along with creating a false belief in relation to a bomb hoax.

He has been refused police bail and is being treated in hospital for an undisclosed condition ahead of an expected bedside court appearance later on Friday.

Police said because of the early information from the school there was never a direct threat to the school community.
