A man has died in a workplace accident at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital site.
SA Ambulance has confirmed paramedics attended the Royal Adelaide Hospital worksite at North Tce about 3pm on Saturday to attend to a man, but could not comment further as the matter has been referred to Safework SA.
In a statement, Safework SA executive director Marie Boland said the health and safety regulator was investigating any potential breaches of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.
"I offer my condolences to the man's family and friends at this difficult time, and every support is being offered to the family," she said.
CFMEU state secretary Aaron Cartledge told AAP the worker, aged in his 60s, was operating a scissor lift when he died.
The man was working for Hansen Yuncken-Leighton Contractors (HYLC), Mr Cartledge said, but could not provide more information as the worker's family was yet to be notified.
The death brings this year's work-related death toll in South Australia to five.
In 2015, a total of 14 work-related fatalities were recorded.
Safework SA said it would not release any more information about the case while the investigation was ongoing.
An HYLC spokeswoman said the company was assisting Safework SA and SA Police with their investigation into the death.
She said all work on the site had stopped and the entire workforce was being provided with appropriate support.
