SA Mosquito Hill bushfire contained

Cooler conditions have helped the CFS contain a 310-hectare bushfire on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula.

A bushfire burning on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula has been contained.

An emergency warning had been issued on New Year's Eve for the Mosquito Hill fire, which burned through about 310 hectares, but the CFS says it has contained the fire in cooler conditions early on New Year's Day.

The blaze destroyed four sheds, an outhouse and a greenhouse, a spokesman said.

Smoke continues to billow over the Adelaide Hills region and firefighters were to remain at the scene until Friday morning.

About 120 firefighters, 33 appliances, four air bombers and a helitanker were deployed to fight the blaze.
