An emergency warning had been issued on New Year's Eve for the Mosquito Hill fire, which burned through about 310 hectares, but the CFS says it has contained the fire in cooler conditions early today.

The blaze destroyed four sheds, an outhouse and a greenhouse.

Smoke continues to billow over the Adelaide Hills region and firefighters will remain at the scene until this morning.
