SA paceman Mennie to miss Shield game

Paceman Joe Mennie will miss South Australia's Sheffield Shield game starting Wednesday as he recovers from a skull fracture.

Paceman Joe Mennie will miss South Australia's next Sheffield Shield game as he continues recovery from a head injury.

Mennie suffered bleeding on the brain and a skull fracture when hit by a ball during training for his BBL franchise Sydney Sixers on January 23.

The fast bowler will be absent when SA host Western Australia in a Shield match starting on Wednesday.

The Redbacks, second on the Shield ladder, also will be without paceman Daniel Worrall who is expected to be sidelined for at least another three weeks because of a lower back problem.

But fellow quick Kane Richardson will return from a back injury which kept him out of the last half of the BBL tournament.

Callum Ferguson will captain the Redbacks in the absence of regular skipper Travis Head, who with SA teammate Adam Zampa is on Australian ODI duties in New Zealand.
