Police have intercepted half a kilogram of methamphetamine allegedly bound for Adelaide's Stereosonic music festival.

Officers found the drugs hidden in a vacuum cleaner while searching a home in Adelaide's north on Friday.

A 25-year-old Prospect man was arrested and charged with trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.

He was refused bail to face the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.

More than 15,000 people are expected to attend Stereosonic at Adelaide's Bonython Park on Saturday.

Police will be on high alert for illicit drug use at the event following the death of 25-year-old Sylvia Choi at the festival's Sydney leg last month.
