SA premier to make Space Agency pitch

SA Premier Steven Marshall will meet the head of Australia's new national space agency in Adelaide in a push to have it located in the state.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall is rolling out the red carpet for the head of the new national space agency, arguing his state's defence industry would make it an ideal home for the body.

Mr Marshall will on Friday meet boss Dr Megan Clark, who is conducting a bidding war between the states and territories to determine the location of the Australian Space Agency.

"We already have the full support of Australia's only NASA Astronaut, Adelaide's Dr Andy Thomas AO, who said that South Australia has 'all the things you need to have a burgeoning space industry," Mr Marshall said in a statement ahead of the meeting in Adelaide.
