Enormous momentum is building behind South Australia's space sector, the state's industry head says.
"Our state is at the centre of the nation's space endeavours, being home to the headquarters of the Australian Space Agency and the SmartSat (Co-operative Research Centre)," SA space industry centre chief executive Richard Price said on Thursday.
Collectively, the sector represented a rapidly growing space ecosystem, Mr Price added.
His comments come as SA continues to strengthen its position as the nation's space state, with more than 600 industry leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers and students attending Adelaide's seventh space forum on Thursday.
The forum is the largest in the country and will include a series of panel sessions, covering space regulation in Australia, national and international space trends and the economics of space technology.
"The Mission Control Facility and Space Discovery Centre will soon be based in Adelaide," Mr Price said.
"This further strengthens our leading role in this key industry.
"Together with strong attendance numbers expected for the space forum, this exciting investment is a true indication of the enormous momentum."
