A surf life saving club south of Adelaide is getting nearly $900,000 from the state government to redevelop its facilities after wild weather on the weekend ripped off a large section of its roof.
Sports Minister Corey Wingard said the grant had been previously approved but had been signed off this week after the damage to the club.
"This surf lifesaving club, along with all the 22 other clubs around South Australia, do fantastic work keeping visitors to our beaches safe, as well as educating people about being safe in our waters," Mr Wingard said.
"What happened at the weekend was unfortunate but to make this announcement about the grant is really, really uplifting for the people of the Aldinga Bay surf club who have been doing it tough over the past couple of days."
The grant will not only allow for repairs but also for a major upgrade with a new garage, male and female change rooms, a gym, a first aid room and a patrol room.

Total cost of the redevelopment work is expected to be about $1.52 million with the rest of the cash coming from the Onkaparinga Council and the club itself.
Board member Keith Holman said the damage to the club's headquarters at the weekend had curtailed much of the club's activities including winter training ahead of the busy summer patrol season.
"But we'll take that one step forward and we'll rebuild and we'll go forward and patrol the beach again at Aldinga for the community and the visitors," Mr Holman said.
