South Australians can now sign up as volunteers to help Syrian refugees settle into the community when they arrive in Adelaide as early as December this year.

The Red Cross and the government-supported Volunteering SA-NT are calling for volunteers who can provide support to compliment official state and federal refugee services.
"Such as orienting them with the local shops, city and transport, and providing conversational English," Volunteering SA/NT chief executive Evelyn O'Loughlin said on Wednesday.

Volunteers can sign up at www.volunteeringsa.org.au.
