The Anglican welfare agency in South Australia has paid out $230,000 to a victim of 1960s child sex abuse.
AnglicareSA chief executive Reverend Peter Sandeman says the organisation was committed, morally and pastorally, to supporting survivors of abuse.
"Given the nature of institutional child abuse, it can be many years before survivors make contact and legal standards of proof may not be possible," Rev Sandeman said in a statement on Monday.
"However, AnglicareSA accepts survivors stories and responds to their concerns."
The case in question involved a young child who suffered severe abuse in a children's home in the 1960s.

A claim was made to the Anglican Diocese in 2012 and AnglicareSA has since provided funds to settle the claim, even though it involved incidents that occurred before it was separated from the Anglican Church in 2000.
AnglicareSA said no government funds or donations were used in what was the first such payout by the welfare agency.
