The one in six Victorian councils disqualified for failing to sign a code of conduct may be given a reprieve by the Victorian government.
Premier Daniel Andrews on Tuesday said he would intervene to prevent administrators taking over the 13 councils for seven weeks before statewide local government elections scheduled for October.
"In the interests of ratepayers we will do the right thing and fix this," Mr Andrews told reporters in Melbourne.
