Lucie Safarova has wasted little time in advancing to the second round of the WTA tournament in Quebec with a straight sets victory over Anna Tatishvili.
Czech top seed Safarova needed just 46 minutes to win 6-0 6-1, dropping just four points on serve.
Sixth-seeded Jennifer Brady made an early exit as the American lost to home hope Bianca Andreescu 6-3 6-2.
Brady was the only seeded player to lose on Tuesday.
Eighth-seeded Viktorija Golubic came from behind to beat Barbora Krejcikova 1-6 7-5 6-4.
Tatjana Maria, the fourth seed, saw off qualifier Fanny Stollar 6-2 7-6 (7-4) and seventh-seeded Alisan Van Uytvanck beat wildcard Carol Zhao 4-6 6-2 7-6 (7-4).
There were also victories for Sofia Kenin, Lucie Hradecka, Francoise Abanda and Sachia Vickery.
