A former female navy officer says she was labelled "the worm" after she levelled sexual assault allegations against a male sailor.
Teresa Cini, who joined the navy in 2005, says the man sexually assaulted her during shore leave.
"There was a sailor who shared a bedroom with me, with a few other sailors, and it was probably the worst time of my life just for the sheer fact that he was a married man with children and I was asleep the whole entire time," Ms Cini told the Ten Network on Friday.
"I was too scared to go to obviously to my superiors about it because you were ridiculed. The minute you said something you were ridiculed."
Ms Cini said she eventually did report the incident and it went to a Defence trial.

She said she was treated like the perpetrator and the man was found not guilty.
"From there onwards I was known as the worm and could not be trusted."
Late last year Ms Cini reported fellow sailors for cheating on drug tests using her urine. The navy said the allegations were unfounded.
Ms Cini was later sacked from the navy for "not doing her job properly", the Ten report said.
The ADF said it could not comment on the specifics of the case but Ms Cini was offered counselling and it takes all sexual assault allegations seriously.
