Super League club Salford have announced the signing of Daniel Vidot from Brisbane on a two-year contract.

The versatile Samoan international, who can play centre or wing, will link up with his new teammates for the 2016/17 season.

The powerful 25-year-old continues Salford's rebuilding, with Justin Carney, Mark Flanagan, Robert Lui and Ben Murdoch-Masila having already been brought in.

"We are delighted to have added both Justin Carney and now Daniel to our backline for next season in the last week and we are starting to look particularly strong in key areas," Salford coach Ian Watson said.

Vidot joined Brisbane at the end of 2013 having previously played for NRL sides St George Illawarra and Canberra, with whom he finished the 2010 season as top try-scorer.

Watson added: "Daniel will bring top-class experience to us. He is used to a winning environment and his enthusiasm and keenness to get over with his new team have been great to see."

Vidot believes new-look Salford will be strong contenders in next season's Super League.

"A lot of talent has been recently recruited by the club which I think will give Salford the edge. Finals footy for me is the goal for 2016 and I personally think that the Red Devils will be next season's dark horses.

"I'm very excited to come to Super League and the UK. I've been to England a couple of times now and I love the atmosphere and culture displayed by the English locals and fans of rugby league."
