Champion hurdler Sally Pearson expects to hit full training by December with one eye on the Tokyo Olympics.

Pearson plans to defend her 100m hurdles title at next year's world championships in Doha, but the goal of a second Olympic gold medal is driving her.

She is back doing three track sessions a week after recovering from the achilles injury that forced her withdrawal from the Commonwealth Games in April.

While a third world title to go with wins in 2011 and 2017 would be nice, Pearson knows what she wants more than anything.

Her win in London six years ago remains one of Australia's finest Olympic moments but the title defence at Rio 2016 was crushed because of a hamstring tear.

"It's all about probably preparing now for the Olympics more than anything and ensuring you can get enough work in to hold yourself to Tokyo," Pearson told AAP on Thursday.

"World champs are still very important to me. I hope then it can push me to the Olympics with speed, fitness, technique work."

Despite turning 32 in September, retirement remains a long way off.

"I love every minute of it and the drive to compete is still there and shining bright," she said.

"I'm getting a little bit ramped up now and getting excited by what's next."
