The Salvation Army's revealed some NSW clubs threatened to restrict access for fundraising but denies that influenced a decision by a group to withhold full support for mandatory pre-commitment reforms.

The Salvos' eastern territory of NSW, Qld and ACT has announced it's supporting more trials of mandatory precommitment systems before fully endorsing it.

The federal government plans to implement mandatory pre-commitment systems for high-intensity poker machines by 2014.

The idea was part of the federal government's deal with independent MP Andrew Wilkie in exchange for his support of the Labor minority government.

The charity's southern territory of Victoria, Tasmania, SA, WA, NT still backs mandatory precommitment.

The Salvation Army's dismissed claims it's split on the issue, saying the charity has never rejected mandatory pre-commitment.
