South Sydney captain Sam Burgess has escaped punishment for an apparent shoulder charge on Manly captain Daly Cherry-Evans.

Burgess collected a blindsided Cherry-Evans high and off the ball the lead up to a first-half Sea Eagles try in the Rabbitohs' 48-6 loss on Friday.

Cherry-Evans did not touch the ball in the play, and was two men to the left of the carrier.

However Burgess was not charged by the match review committee on Saturday.

The Englishman has already fronted the judiciary over an alleged shoulder charge this year, on Canterbury's Greg Eastwood on Good Friday, but was cleared.

His brother George hasn't had the same luck.

He copped a four-match ban for a similar hit on Brisbane playmaker Anthony Milford last week - less than a month after being banned for an errant elbow.

The let off will be a massive relief for Souths, who have sunk to 3-6 and are also without superstar fullback Greg Inglis for the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile North Queensland rookie Corey Jensen was charged for his high tackle on Parramatta's Tepai Moeroa.

The bench forward has been hit with a grade-two charge over the first-half shot.

He will miss the Cowboys' round 10 clash with Canterbury, regardless of if he takes the early guilty plea or fights it at the judiciary and loses.

Parramatta back rower Kenny Edwards was not charged for his slap of Gavin Cooper, for which he was sin-binned.
