Samoa to host historic Test against Fiji

ARLC chairman John Grant has announced that Samoa will host their first-ever rugby league Test match on home soil in October.

Samoa will host their first ever rugby league Test match on home soil when they take on Fiji in Apia on October 8, the NRL has announced.

ARLC chairman John Grant, who is also the deputy chairman of the Rugby League International Federation, said the NRL will fund the match and also provide a referee.

The historic event will mark 30 years of rugby league in Samoa.

"The Pacific is a region we will continue to support," Grant said ahead of Saturday's Pacific double-header at Pirtek Stadium.

"Our League Bilong Laif program in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Outreach Program in Samoa, Fiji and Tonga have been enormously successful, and are now delivered by 50 full and part time staff across PNG, Samoa, Fiji and Tonga."
