Sandilands to miss Dockers' AFL clash

Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands has been ruled out for a third straight AFL match with a hamstring injury.

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon will resist the temptation to debut young ruckman Sean Darcy against Brisbane, despite Aaron Sandilands being ruled out for a third straight AFL match.

Veteran Sandilands will miss Saturday night's clash at the Gabba due to an ongoing hamstring injury.

The Dockers need to win to remain in the top eight after losses to Collingwood and Adelaide.

"He's (Sandilands) had a slight setback and won't play this week. Hopefully, we'll see him after the bye," Lyon said on Wednesday.

Sandilands' back-up Jonathon Griffin didn't set the world alight in Sunday's loss to Collingwood at Domain Stadium, particularly with six clangers from eight kicks.

But Lyon is happy with his competitiveness and won't be offering a spot to Darcy, who has been performing solidly in the WAFL with Peel Thunder.

"We were really pleased with Jon Griffin with his ruck work," he said.

"Sean is really growing but Jon took some marks around the ground and his ruck work is really competitive.

"I would think he will continue on."

The Dockers will rest wingman Ed Langdon this week with Tom Sheridan the most obvious replacement after 29 possessions and 11 marks in the WAFL for Peel on Saturday against Subiaco.

Meanwhile, Lyon expects small forward Hayden Ballantyne to be back from a second hamstring injury after next week's bye and the troubled Harley Bennell to return to full training within a month.
