A fleet of electric cars is now ready to chauffeur passengers around Adelaide.
myCar founder Mark Harrington says the cars will use charging stations across the city and passengers can choose between chauffeur-driven luxury Mercedes S500 PHEV, Tesla X and S electric cars as well as Lexus hybrid vehicles.
"The availability of these cars will help demonstrate the functionality of electric cars to those corporate decision makers looking to upgrade their fleet to low-emissions vehicles," he said on Monday.
Hotels across the city have already signed up for the service with the Stamford hotels installing charging pods.
Reducing emissions from transport will help Adelaide in its quest to become a carbon neutral city, Environment Minister Ian Hunter said.
"Consumers are starting to demand more sustainable, low-carbon products and services," he said.
"I expect hotel guests, tourists and even those needing a car for a short-distance commute will appreciate the option."
