SA's mid-year budget review

Details in South Australia's mid-year budget review.

SA MID-YEAR BUDGET REVIEW:

* $370m to be cut from government agencies over the next four years, with some back office jobs to go but no reduction in frontline workers.

* Budget surplus to be slashed to $12m in 2017/18 and $14m in 2018/19, down from previous forecasts of $72m and $132m.

* Budget surplus for 2016/17 finalised at $443m, $204 million more than previously forecast.

* The government to continue spending on key infrastructure projects including roads, hospitals and schools.

* The cost of buying the government's emergency generators revealed at $227.2m. The government will also pay $111.5m to lease and fuel them over the first two years.

* Employment growth over the next four years to be stuck at just one per cent.

* Total state debt finalised at $4.9b in 2016/17 but forecast to rise to $6.6b by 2020/21.
