SBS Dateline journalist Evan Williams has been recognised with his second award in a week for the SBS Dateline episode Myanmar’s Killing Fields.

In the special hour-long Dateline film, Evan Williams hears first-hand about brutal killings and attacks on Myanmar's persecuted Rohingya Muslim population.

Veteran ABC Pacific Correspondent Sean Dorney presented the award at the New South Wales Parliament House on Saturday night.

The award in its sixth year recognises excellence in foreign affairs journalism that has "deepened the knowledge or shaped the discussion of international policy".

Mr Williams receives $20,000 as part of the prize.

Previous award winners include the ABC’s Matt Brown, Fairfax’s Jewel Topsfield, The Australian’s Paul Maley, the ABC’s Hayden Cooper, and Fairfax’s John Garnaut.

Earlier in the week, Mr Williams received the Walkley coveted Documentary Award for the film, which he produced with Eve Lucas and Georgina Davies.
