SBS has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to the Tour de France until 2023 in an historic 10-year agreement with the owners and organisers of the iconic race, Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO).
The rights deal, announced today in Le Bourg d'Oisans, France before the start of Stage 19 of the Tour de France, means SBS will be the only place to watch the Tour de France in Australia for the next 10 years.
The agreement is the longest rights deal between SBS and ASO and also covers all online and mobile rights.
Tour officials cited SBS's dedication to covering the event and expanding interest in the sport over the past 23 years.
The Tour de France is one of SBS's biggest sport properties, and 2013 marks the 23rd year of SBS's broadcast of the event. Six million Australians watched the Tour de France on SBS in 2012.
