SBS nails Vikings series for third season

US ratings winner Vikings is returning to SBS for a third season.

Popular TV series Vikings will be back for a third season on Australian television.

SBS on Thursday announced the third season of the series about Nordic warriors will air on SBS ONE in 2015.

Australia's own Travis Fimmel and Alyssa Sutherland star in the drama, which is set in the eighth century.

Vikings is a ratings winner in the United States, with more than 3.4 million viewers tuning in each week.

The show is broadcast on Mondays at 8.30pm in Australia.
