A crime drama featuring a raft of talent from Australia's South Sudanese community, and a social experiment addressing unresolved conflicts are among the hightlights previewed at SBS's first-ever mid-year showcase.
The event, hosted by SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid in Sydney, gave more details of the distinctive shows that will screen across the network's free-to-air channels, along with SBS On Demand, later this year.
"We've been doing lots of on-charter content for the last few years, but we've had enormous success in the first half of 2017," he said.
"The shows we're announcing for the second half of the year are very much to the heart of what we're all about at SBS, which is very much focusing on exploring cultures in communities that make up our diverse world."
Among the highlights is "Look Me In The Eye", an emotional series hosted by Ray Martin that explores what happens when pairs of estranged people come face to face for the first time in years.
In the drama section, Anthony LaPaglia and Melanie Lynskey star alongside a cast of South Sudanese Australian actors in "Sunshine", set in the outer-western Melbourne suburb of the same name.
NITV continues its focus on Indigenous storytelling with "You Are Here", a series of documentaries presented by actress Miranda Tapsell looking at the place of Indigenous people in today's Australia.
And several critically acclaimed US shows from "The Good Fight" to "The Handmaid's Tale" will also premiere.
