Sonny Bill Williams remains in contention to make his debut for the All Blacks Sevens after being named in an extended squad for the Wellington Sevens.

Sonny Bill Williams is a step closer to making his debut for the All Blacks Sevens after making an extended squad for the Wellington Sevens.

World Cup-winning All Black Williams is dedicating himself to sevens only this year in an attempt to make the side for the Rio Olympics.

The 30-year-old is in the 22-man squad for the Wellington leg of the World Series from January 30-31 which will be cut to 12 next week.
