Youth detained in far north Queensland have been treated after an outbreak of scabies took hold in the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre.
Nine cases of the highly-infectious skin condition were confirmed after a detainee was found to have the burrowing mites on April 20.
A further 11 cases were unconfirmed.
Treatment overseen by Queensland Health were provided to all residents within days of the discovery, a spokeswoman for the Department of Youth and Child Safety said.
"Due to the proximity of residents all detainees received two rounds of treatment," she said.

"Staff were advised on precautions to avoid infection and urged to seek readily available medical help if they presented with any symptoms."
