Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says she's prepared to do whatever it takes to bring the NRL grand final to Queensland.
Her comments are in response to reports the final will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2018 and 2019 while ANZ Stadium is being refurbished.
"The SCG is no place for an NRL grand final," Ms Palaszczuk said on Sunday.
Ms Palaszczuk said she and Sports Minister Curtis Pitt would be fighting to have the event hosted instead at Brisbane's 52,500-seat Suncorp Stadium.
"It would mean multi-million dollars for this city and isn't it about time that Queensland could host an NRL grand final?" she said.
The premier was reluctant to say exactly how much the state was willing to offer to host the event.
But when asked whether she was prepared to do "whatever it takes", Ms Palaszczuk replied: "Absolutely".
Queensland's case for the final could be bolstered by the fact two Queensland teams - the Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys - featured in last year's final and currently sit atop the NRL ladder.
If the event is moved to the SCG, it will be the first time it has been played there since 1987.
