Australian students may soon get lessons at school on how to identify a potential terrorist.

Attorney-General George Brandis says the federal government is working with community groups and state governments to develop educational materials to steer individuals away from ideologies of hate.

Islamic Council of Victoria Secretary, Kuranda Seyit says while the plan has some merit .. the devil is in the detail.

He's told Sonja Heydeman, the language used could be the difference between bringing people together or nudging youth further towards radicalisation.
