A 13-year-old remains in a critical condition after she fell down an embankment at a Victorian national park while on a school camp.
The girl suffered multiple injuries, including head injuries, in the fall in the Grampians in the state's west on Thursday afternoon.
She underwent surgery overnight and remains in a critical condition in the Royal Children's Hospital on Friday evening.
The girl was on camp with her NSW classmate, the last of whom returned home in the afternoon.
The girl was a Year Eight student at Moama Anglican Grammar School on the NSW-Victorian border.
School spokeswoman Grace Jeffrey said the school is doing what it can to look after the students.
"Our main priority is with the student and her family and we request that their privacy is respected," Ms Jeffrey said on Friday.
The girl was with about 20 students and three adults at the time of her fall.
Paramedics had to trek to her before they could winch her to a helicopter that took her to Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital late on Thursday, Ambulance Victoria said.
Police say the area is known for being a hot-spot for rescues.
"The Grampians is an unforgiving place, "Sergeant Scott Olsen told Network Seven.
"We're averaging a rescue every five days in the Grampians.
"People just need to be weary it is a dangerous spot."
