A New Zealand teenager spared jail over a sickening one-punch attack at schoolies will be deported.
Australian Border Force officers have detained Caleb Maraku, 19, who was handed a year of probation and ordered to pay $365 in compensation after pleading guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm last month.
The 19-year-old, who is believed to have moved to Australia six years ago, was filmed knocking a teen unconscious with a single hit during schoolies celebrations at the Gold Coast in November.
Footage of the attack, and of Maraku leaving court laughing and taking selfies while surrounded by media, prompted outrage and led to an online petition calling for his removal from Australia.

Maraku's antics also lead to him being challenged to several organised fights.
Gold Coast scaffolder Ben Vandenbroek urged him to "get in the ring for our charity scaffolding boxing night", in a Facebook post.
Maraku replied: "Sort it out I'll come down 100%. Message with the info and dates I'll see u then".
But he has since gone quiet, which has prompted professional boxer Kerry Foley to taunt him with an offer of $10,000 for a brawl.
"Caleb is hiding as many predicted," a post on a Kerry Foley vs Caleb Maraku Facebook page says.
"If Caleb stays in hiding and doesn't fight the streets will catch up to him."
