Scientist Harry Messel dies aged 93

Australia is mourning the loss of science educator and physicist Harry Messel.

Renowned physicist and science educator Professor Harry Messel has died at the age of 93.

Prof Messel was head of the School of Physics at the University of Sydney for 35 years until his retirement in 1987.

He was of Ukrainian parents and brought up in Canada.
