Scipione to welcome new police recruits

NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione will welcome 208 new probationary constables two days after fronting the Lindt cafe siege inquest.

Just two days after fronting the Lindt Cafe siege inquest, NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione will welcome 208 new probationary constables into the force.

Mr Scipione will welcome the students from "Class 328" at the NSW Police Force Academy in Goulburn on Friday.

The ceremony comes two days after Mr Scipione took the stand on Wednesday as the final witness at the Sydney inquest into the Lindt Cafe siege, where he accepted some of the blame for the fatal outcome.

Mr Scipione's deputy, Cath Burn, the state's counter-terrorism head, was grilled the previous day.

Friday's ceremony will also see retiring officer Detective Superintendent Stuart Wilkins farewelled after 36 years of distinguished service with NSW Police.
