Scorchers aim to shine in WBBL finals

Perth Scorchers women's captain Charlotte Edwards is confident her team will thrive during the finals following their late-season WBBL purple patch.

The Perth Scorchers women's team are confident they've saved their best for last - and the ladder-leading Sydney Thunder loom as a major road kill.

The Scorchers scraped into the WBBL finals by the barest of margins following Sunday's nine-wicket thumping of the Melbourne Renegades.

The Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat also finished the regular season on 14 points, but the Scorchers' superior net run rate allowed them to claim fourth spot.

Perth face off against the Thunder in Thursday's semi-final at Adelaide Oval, with the winner to take on the Hobart Hurricanes or Sydney Sixers in the final.

Scorchers captain Charlotte Edwards is confident her team can produce the goods during the finals.

"Sometimes, it's the teams that just get in there that can often win the cup," Edwards said.

"I said at the start of the competition, 'It's not how you start - it's how you finish', so hopefully I'll live by that come Thursday.

"I really feel as though in the last couple of games we're really starting to click, we're starting to know what we're about and ultimately our batters are coming to form.

"We're probably a team that people didn't want to get to the semi-final stage because they knew on paper we've got a good team."

Edwards shapes as a key figure against the Thunder.

The 36-year-old has produced four half-centuries and an unbeaten 41 in her past eight innings to help spearhead the team's surge into the finals.

The Thunder beat Perth twice in two days at the WACA Ground earlier this season, but the Scorchers hope to turn the tables when it matters most.
