Scorchers beat Strikers in WBBL

The Perth Scorchers have boosted their WBBL finals hopes with a seven-wicket thrashing of Adelaide at the WACA Ground.

Perth Scorchers allrounder Heather Graham scored a speedy 39 to lift her side to a seven-wicket WBBL victory over the Adelaide Strikers at the WACA Ground on Saturday.

In reply to Adelaide's 6-120, the Scorchers cruised to 3-122 with 12 balls to spare.

Graham struck five boundaries in her 30-ball knock to earn player-of-the-match honours, while Nicole Bolton was also crucial in the win with 33 off 34 balls.

Strikers international Sarah Coyte bore the brunt of the damage, returning 0-37 from her four overs.

England superstar Charlotte Edwards got Adelaide off to a promising start with 31 off 23 balls.

But the Strikers failed to up the tempo when needed later in the innings, finishing with a total that was easily overhauled.

Medium pacer Piepa Cleary was the pick of Perth's bowlers with 3-21 off four overs.

Perth (6-5) moved from fifth to third with the win, giving them a good chance to qualify for the finals with just three games remaining.

Adelaide (3-7) remain in seventh spot.

The Scorchers will be back in action on Sunday when they play the Melbourne Stars at Lilac Hill.
