The Perth Scorchers are out to put dangerman Michael Beer off his game in Tuesday's BBL semi-final as the Melbourne Stars seek to shake off their chokers tag.
Beer destroyed the Scorchers when the two teams met last week, with the 32-year-old spinner claiming 2-5 from his first three overs - on his way to 2-12 - as Perth slumped to 4-13.
The Scorchers were thumped by seven wickets in that match, but they secured top spot on the ladder and a home semi-final with a crushing win over Hobart on Saturday.
More importantly, the batting line-up regained their mojo, with Shaun Marsh scoring 57 off 34 balls to help inspire the win.
Beer looms as a key figure in Tuesday's heavyweight clash, but Scorchers skipper Adam Voges says his team will be far better prepared to face him this time around.
"You'll see a bit more of a proactive approach against him," Voges said.
"You'll see us use our feet a bit more, whether that's coming at him, or using the depth of the crease.
"I just think we got stuck a little bit (in the last game). And when he gets on a bit of a roll like that, he's quite effective in T20 cricket.
"That's our challenge - to try to put him off his game.
"He's been excellent again for them this year opening the bowling. But we kind of know what we're coming up against."
Tuesday's match will be the fifth time in six seasons the Scorchers and Stars have faced off in a semi-final.
The Scorchers have won three of those four encounters.
But the Stars earned a slice of revenge last season when they beat the Scorchers by seven wickets in the semi-final at the MCG.
The Stars are seeking their maiden title after reaching four semi-finals and losing last year's final to the Sydney Thunder.
Voges said the history between the two sides would count for little come Tuesday's match.
Perth have named an unchanged squad, while the Stars have been boosted by the return of allrounder Marcus Stoinis from international duties.
Dan Worrall was also included in the Stars' 13-man squad, with Sam Harper and Cameron Gannon the two players to make way.
If the Scorchers reach the final, they'll be without Shaun Marsh, who has been called up for Australia's ODI tour of New Zealand.
