Scotland playmaker Danny Brough says his side cannot afford to be star-struck when facing Australia in a daunting Four Nations opener in Hull.
The three-time Super League Man of Steel recipient conceded beating Mal Meninga's side would be something of a miracle and said avoiding embarrassment at the hands of their star-studded opponents is the Scots' biggest aim.
The Bravehearts have never played Australia in their 20-year existence and are aiming to succeed where France, Papua New Guinea, Wales and Samoa have failed.
"The aim going into the tournament is to try and nick a game," said Brough.
"That's our main goal along with not getting embarrassed and letting ourselves down because that would be a big disappointment."
Brough is one of seven Super League players in coach Steve McCormack's 19-man squad, which also includes NRL regulars Lachlan Coote, Euan Aitken, Luke Douglas and Kane Linnett..
McCormack said he's managed to assemble his strongest-ever squad despite the absence of Penrith hooker Peter Wallace who, along with former Wests Tigers and Australia prop Keith Galloway, is injured.
"Losing Peter Wallace was a big blow but it is what it is," Brough said.
"We've got 24 lads there that's willing to play and it probably is one of the best squads we've ever had.
"We're massive underdogs, we know that. We're just looking to go out there with smiles on our faces and try and compete until the 80th minute.
"It's been a long time coming. We're playing the three best teams in the world so there is no hiding place out there now."
