Adam Scott hopes a two-week break in Australia and the birth of his second child can reinvigorate his game ahead of a globe-trotting attempt to save his US PGA Tour season.
Scott, who skipped the Northern Trust in New York last week to be with wife Marie as the couple welcomed baby Byron, has made a late dash from the Gold Coast to Boston, Massachusetts for the second event of the $US67 FedEx Cup play-offs series.
Ranked 73rd in the FedEx standings, Scott needs a strong result at the Dell Technologies Championship in order to sneak into the top-70 and advance to next week's BMW Championship near Chicago.
World No.18 Scott's last tournament was the US PGA Championship, where he finished equal 61st.
The former world No.1 feels an Australian sojourn could help him rediscover form after an "average" regular season that yielded nine top-15 finishes from 15 events without a win.

"Sometimes these forced rests, they can happen through injury or they can happen through my situation. And they can be a really good thing for you," Scott told AAP prior to the break.
The 37-year-old Scott will look to channel good vibes from his last visit to TPC Boston, when he came home with a wet sail in the final round to finish outright fourth behind 2016 winner Rory McIlroy.
However, PGA Tour pundits are tipping countryman Jason Day to pick up his first win of 2017, pointing to the fact the world No.9 has never missed a cut in nine starts at TPC Boston.
Day's happy hunting ground has delivered three top-10 finishes among seven top-25s.
The 29-year-old Queenslander is also coming off a tie for sixth at the Northern Trust, which launched him 20 places in the FedEx standings to 29th and sets up a strong chance to make the top-30 which qualify for the Tour Championship finale in Atlanta, Georgia in September.
"It would be great to get a win in the next two (events) and set myself up for the Tour Champs," said Day.
"It's huge, knowing I've got some momentum. I feel good; I'm striking it nicely but I just have to hole more putts (than last week)."
Marc Leishman missed the Northern Trust cut but at 20th on points he remains the leading Australian, while Brisbane youngster Cameron Smith also failed to make the weekend and dropped to 44th.
Like Scott, Queensland veteran Rod Pampling will need to make a charge to keep his season alive, entering the event 71st on the standings.
After winning the the Northern Trust in a sudden-death play-off against Jordan Spieth, world No.1 Dustin Johnson now leads the standings over Spieth.
