Scott wants North to prove AFL hardness

As much as Brad Scott liked Leon Cameron's praise of North Melbourne, the Kangaroos coach said it is yet to be vindicated on the field.

Brad Scott wants proof before he will accept Leon Cameron's high praise that North Melbourne are the hardest team in the AFL.

Cameron made the comment as the Giants coach prepares his team for Saturday's match against the Kangaroos in Hobart.

"We understand the Kangaroos are probably the hardest side in the competition at the moment in terms of contested ball and pressure," Cameron said.

That drew a mixed response from his North counterpart.

"That's a massive compliment ... I would caution our guys that it's round two and we haven't been able to sustain that level of competitiveness or pressure across four quarters," Scott said.

"That's the next challenge for us.

"We're capable of doing it at times, but we have to step up and make sure we can sustain it. We've been OK at it, but are we the best? That's yet to be determined."

While the Giants are the premiership favourites and North are winless after two rounds, the Kangaroos will fancy their chances in the Hobart clash.

They were outstanding for much of last Sunday's match against Geelong, before falling by one point and Scott thinks their Hobart second home can be a factor.

North have an impressive 9-3 record at Bellerive, while the Giants' only match there was a 129-point mauling from the Kangaroos in their debut 2012 season.

"We're looking to make Hobart a fortress ... the Giants have only played there once," Scott said.

"It's a ground we play really well, so that will give us hopefully a little leg-up.

"It just means we're really familiar with the ground and they're not."

While the Giants are unchanged, Kangaroos ruckman Todd Goldstein is back from a week out with an ankle injury and Sam Durdin will make his AFL debut.

Durdin has the honour of becoming the 1000th Shinboner, or North senior player.

Scott Thompson is suspended and Jy Simpkin has a quad muscle injury.

One of the keys for North will be midfielder Shaun Higgins, who was best on ground against the Cats.

Scott said they are torn between playing him in the midfield and leaving him in attack.

"He was probably only kept out of the midfield last year by Daniel Wells," Scott said. Wells is now at Collingwood.

"He's such a capable forward, that it's a pretty good problem to have, to have to play him forward.

"We've really been determined to push him up into the midfield this year and he certainly hasn't let us down, he's had a great start."
