Scottish fighter Mike Towell has died after a boxing bout in Glasgow.

Scottish boxer Mike Towell has died in hospital after he was injured in a bout on Thursday night.

The 25-year-old suffered a fifth-round loss to Dale Evans in a St Andrews Sporting Club fight in Glasgow and was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

His management said he died with his family at his bedside.

Towell, who had 11 wins and one draw from his 12 fights prior to taking on Dale Evans, was knocked down by a left hook in the fifth after also hitting the canvas in the first following a right hand.
